It was my birthday last weekend and we took off up to the country to celebrate it – an extra special trip considering it was our only opportunity in November to get up to Wonderview! Hayden and I both took the Friday off work and took Amelie out of school for the day, then headed up via Matakana to enjoy a quick visit to the village and lunch at Brick Bay Winery. It was such a very lovely day!
Over the weekend we visited the playground and had coffee at Bennetts, but otherwise we spent most of our time relaxing at the house. We spent a lot of time outside, including celebrating the warm weather with ice blocks on the deck! Amelie was particularly impressed with that, but possibly even more so with the water I poured on the sticky ice block mess she left after she was done – she sprinted off to get her wellies to ‘jump in the muddy puddles!’
I got some yoga in, read a lot, relaxed in the spa with Hayden after Amelie was in bed and generally just had a wonderful time chilling in my favourite place with my favourite people. All in all, it was a great way to mark the beginning of my next year in this special world of ours!
