Another week on Malolo

As you may have guessed from my last post, a stream of consciousness flood of memories from our holiday, we just got back from Malolo again. It was just as magical as last time – even more so actually. It really is just the best place.

Here are some (okay, a lot) of my favourite photos from the trip, if you want to take a look!

~ some island-based recommendations ~

Listen: I made a playlist before we left on holiday – Music for a Tropical Island – and we listened to it several times during the week, including a couple of times through on our last night, when we drank champagne and G&Ts with new island friends on our verandah and our children played in the hammocks out front of the bure. I recommend for island vibes/wholesome summer vibes/family camp vibes.

Read: While on holiday, I read Funny Story by Emily Henry; Swan Song by Elin Hilderbrand; and My Favourite Mistake by Marian Keyes. These are three of my favourite authors and I had been saving the books up specially for the holiday. They were all well worth it! If you, like me, are currently in winter you could read My Favourite Mistake without regret, but I really do recommend saving the other two for a bit of sunshine if you can – otherwise you might end up randomly booking a plane ticket to Nantucket or lakeside Michigan without the full complement of thought that would usually accompany that decision.

Eat: One of the greatest things about Malolo is how good the food is. I started every morning with a breakfast of chia pudding, mango, and a sprinkling of homemade granola, and that’s a tradition I’d really love to bring into this summer at home also. Hayden makes an amazing tropical granola – this looks pretty close, but he goes really heavy on the nuts and I’d recommend doing the same – and I’m the only one in the house who likes chia pudding, so thankfully it’s super easy to make.

Be: Make the most of every activity you can do and dress for dinner. Good advice for holidays; good advice for life.
